Course Description

The course is aimed at imparting knowledge of the basic elements of Petroleum Geophysics in a non-technical fashion to financial and administrative managers to enhance their petroleum geophysics background knowledge. At the outset, the course introduces the basics of hydrocarbon accumulations and the nature of hydrocarbons. In the next step regional surveys for hydrocarbon exploration and wildcat drilling are detailed. Then the process of basin development using geophysical methods and drilling of development wells are detailed. Emphasis is provided on the importance of integrating Seismic, gravity and magnetic methods for geophysical exploration.
